How the Password Generator works
This generator guarantees at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one digit (plus one symbol, if enabled) in every password, then fills the remaining length with a random mix from the full combined character set and shuffles the result — so the required-character guarantee doesn't create a predictable prefix pattern.
The optional 'exclude look-alike characters' setting removes commonly confused characters such as lowercase L, the digit 1, capital O, and the digit 0 — useful when a password needs to be read aloud, typed from a printout, or entered on a device without a clear font distinction between them.
How to use it
Frequently asked questions
How long should my password be?
Security guidance has shifted toward length over complexity; 16 characters or more, generated randomly, is a strong modern baseline for most personal and work accounts.
Should I reuse a generated password across sites?
No — generate and store a unique password per site, ideally in a dedicated password manager, so a breach on one site can't be used to access others.
Is it safe to generate a password in the browser?
Yes, generation happens locally on your device with a cryptographically secure random source and is never transmitted anywhere — but always store the result in a reputable password manager rather than in an unencrypted file.
