Only the specific range 555-0100 through 555-0199 is officially guaranteed non-working across the North American Numbering Plan (covering the US, Canada, and parts of the Caribbean) — reserved by NANPA specifically for film, television, and testing use since 1994, after decades of prank calls to real numbers shown in earlier media. Other 555 numbers outside that narrow range have since been released for real assignment, so this tool deliberately stays within the guaranteed-safe block rather than using '555' more loosely.
