How the D20 Advantage / Disadvantage Roller works
Advantage and disadvantage are core D&D 5e mechanics: instead of modifying a roll with a bonus or penalty, you roll two d20s and take either the higher (advantage, representing a situational edge) or the lower (disadvantage, representing a hindrance). Both dice are always shown, with the unused roll struck through, so you can verify exactly which value was taken.

Frequently asked questions
Do advantage and disadvantage cancel out if I have both?
Per standard 5e rules, yes — if a roll would have both advantage and disadvantage from different sources, they cancel out and you roll normally with a single d20.
Why show both dice instead of just the result?
Transparency — you can verify the higher or lower value was correctly selected, the same way you'd see both physical dice on a table.
Is this the same as rolling 2d20 and adding them?
No — advantage/disadvantage always uses just one of the two values (the higher or lower), never their sum.
