How the Random Chore Assignment Generator works
This uses the same random pairing approach as Xrandom's Prize & Gift Matcher: your chore list is shuffled independently, then matched one-to-one against your family list, so every possible pairing has an equal chance — no more informal defaults where the same person always ends up on dish duty.
If you have more chores than people, only the first N shuffled chores get assigned; add a second round or double up chores in your list if everyone needs more than one.
How to use it
Frequently asked questions
Can I make sure someone doesn't get the same chore two weeks running?
Not automatically — for variety, just re-run it if a repeat comes up, or manually skip a match you want to avoid.
What if I have more people than chores?
Extra people simply won't get a chore this round; add more chores to your list or run a second round for a smaller sub-group.
Is this fair for young kids doing simpler chores?
Yes — just tailor your chore list to age-appropriate tasks before generating, like 'set the table' or 'feed the dog' for younger children.
